mmciau
01-18-2004, 01:49 PM
So we can pull the trailer with the BBQ on it and/or pull Fords out of the mud but most importantly, to re-arrange your shin bone when you pass behind the car at the supermarket! That last one really smarts the eyes!!!
Mainly rear end protection - it fairly sorts out the radiator of anyone who dares to rear end us!

Is getting rearended a BIG problem in aussie land? Nice rides, I wish we had more choices for LS1 powered cars in the States, we just have Camaro(gm R.I.P.ed)Firebirds aka TA's,Formula's(gm also R.I.P.ed), Vettes and the New GTO which U guys already Know. GM should have spent more money on redesignng the FBodies instead of building the Freakin SSR(sorry had to Vent some Steam) Very Nice Rides U aussies have!!!

My nephew was rear-ended by a young "P" plate driver a few weeks ago - fairly wrecked the rear end and bent the floor and roof line and closed up the door openings.
His tow bar cracked the block of the FWD.
The young 'P" plater was messaging on the mobile phone at the time, and over "zero" tolerance and in deep trouble as a result - all insurances become null and void.

The tow bar generally offers good protection in car parks, etc.

There are plenty of fiberglass copys of this kit floating around.

whats the carbon fiber looking intake on that thing???hts 427 or somthign

The HRT 427 was a concept car that almost made it to manufacture - there were to be a limited no at around $180,000 AU

the intake is an 8 throttle body set up ,the carbon fiber ram tubes are covered by a box feed by 2 air boxes ,1 either side of the engine bay.

There are several 8 throttle body set ups manufactured in AUS.

Its powered by an LS1 and has only been slightly tuned with HP Tuners VCM Suite at the moment. I do plan on changing the exhaust from the stock 2 ¼ to something a little better as well as a few other mod’s .If anyone has a stock ss or hsv 04 commodore bin file would be great to see them here http://www.horist.com/hptuner/home.asp?page=home

Plan B's ute.
I wasn’t quite sure what to write when I first posted these videos , like the sound of the engine on the dyno and from what I have read this was a very conservative tune with only 12 deg of advance at wot and running rich . It did make 490 rw/hp . The ¼ mile run was done on street tyres and there is a lot more in it .

We, like you call this a Station Wagon and I have been very pleased with the fact that I can motor around in what appears to be a "Family Grocery Cart" and still put down 13.7's and have over 400hp.
Raises a few looks from the "Ricers" when all they see is your rear number plate :D :D :D

Happy to share more details if anyone is interested.
Also would love some information on the type of Over the radiator Cold Air Intakes you folk are using.

Is the Ute a Chevrolet or a Holden because all the ones in this thread definitely have bowtie grilles and badges. I really like the Holden caprice and HSV Grange, which seem to be built on a rear-drive version of US impalas and stuff.

The Ute is a Holden . People in Australia put the bowtie grilles and badges to make them look different or stand out , some would argue how much of them is made in Australia . Engine from the US , wheels made in Taiwan (was a little shocked when i saw that cast in to the back the factory alloy's) but they are an Australian car . :|

Slight correction in terminology if I may!

Pick ups are "US F150 plus type" vehicles!

Utes (yoots) short for utilities are Australian identifiers applied to sedan based frames with goods carrying capabilities of approx 1 tonne .

One of the cars in the previous page of photos aka blown 300 which is a Senator limited edition which comes with the C4B motor same as the GTS model runs 800rwhp in blown combination, which is almost a daily driver as often as he can get out in it, but I think he runs a cast iron block now for security( not exactly sure though) will have to ask his tuner and check....

Here are some pics of my 2000 HSV Senator. The Senator is the highest luxury model that HSV sells in the short wheel base variant. Mine is very rare in that it run a 6 speed T56. But is optioned with GTS suspension which is the highest of the sports models. The only modifications to mine are the Intake. And an EFI LIVE Dual Table MAFLESS tune. It has about 430HP

Whats up with the airbox and maf just hanging out there and the camero style intake, never seen that before.

The airbox off the side is the stock unit with the MAF bolted to it. I leave it there for when I want to make the car look stock and just remove the OTRCAI and install the standard MAF pipe back on.

That intake is a ram air style intake that gains about 30hp over the very restrictive standard airbox. They are a very popular mod ever here. But can be quite pricey at around $600AU
When the car goes to the drags the filter comes out. And its good for a mid 12 sec pass.

eBay for covers. Dont like your chances on finding chrome ones though. But you could always prep them yourself

cool, I figured it was something like that. 30hp is alot just from a CAI

Thanks champ but the ebay items just aren't quite what i am looking for. Although having said that, metalflake black is probably not a bad compromise i guess!!

I was hoping to find a site in the US that specialises in aftermarket dress up bits for our Monaro's over there????

Hopefully a pic of my VY Senator has attached to this thread so you can see?!?!? If not i have posted pics of it on the HSV Forum....

Can you guys get me some more pics of that intake thing? It looks like it might fit great on my truck with my hood. Perhaps off of the vehicle and the underside? even with a tape measure placed on it will help. It can even be in metric as I am able to speak metric.

macca_779
11-23-2006, 02:49 AM
here you go buddy. I've applied heat shield tape to the bottom of mine to reduce the inherent heat soak you get with these things upon restarting the car. Not to sure if it will fit on your truck as you can see where it dips in to get over the radiator. Have a look at a GTO to see if the clearance is similar

Something a little different, basically a Holden S/Wagon, jacked up for off road, AWD 62/38 rear front power split. with LS1.

Threw in heads and cam, Starr 10 psi Whipple, air water intercooler, alcohol / water injection, headers and system to the back, 2 bar tune gave us 500 fwkW (670 fwhp) 900 nm of torque.

Broke 4 x 4L60e's in the first 10,000 ks so now has the only 4L80e AWD around (AWD drive off the left hand side, not 4WD off the right)

Has 20 x 35 x 255 wheels with Harrop 381 mm x 6 pot front with 355 mm x 4 pot rear brakes

Weighs 2247 Kg (4943.4 lb)

0 to 100 k (60 mph) 4.1 sec in street trim with no wheel spin, pulls 1 G on launch.

Feel free to go to www.Mainlube.com.au and go to the LS1 section, then to video and you can see the crazy short videos of this machine on the skid pan in Sydney. (I noticed our site is down at the moment, should be up soon, after I find our I.T. man and scream)

this is my 2005 VZ Executive LS1 , very very rare police pack (as they weren't supposed to option the base model with LS1). Currently run 12.29@100mph, 1.72 60ft, with bolt-ons only
-4500 convertor, stock trans with trans-cooler
-4.11 lsd
-90/10's, rest stock suspension
-4-1 shorty headers, into twin 2.5" , opened up stock cats, no mufflers, just rear resinator
-OTRCAI
-anti-tramp bushes

just added 25% UDP and valve springs, but haven;t been to strip, aiming for 11's runing MT drag radials
