Default gear shift boot on auto Firebird

I just bought a red and black leather boot for my shifter to match the rest of my car, and i was wondering how do u install it on an auto? ive got it over the grip but im not sure how to install the bottom of the boot to my car. the way it is right now the little plastic peices slide back and forth with the shifter. does anyone kno how to do this? any info and pics would be appreciated! thanks

no ideas?! haha ive been trying to figure somethin out for about 2 hours now, and not sure wat to do with out breaking something i might need...

Uh, how about this idea, ..., take it apart & figure it out?!? j/k, ...
Search function still works. This has been done before, there are threads with info out there.
Just remove the shift ****, then remove the screws holding the console, ...
When you have it upside down in your lap, I think you can figure it out from there.

haha ya, ive been tryin to find an old thread for awhile now, nothin is comin up yet, so im still lookin. but ya im gonna try taking it all apart and see wat i can come up with! thanks tho

thanks for the help, i found a write up on here like 6 pages deep in a search, and i installed it jsut a few mins ago! it looks good! thanks for the help!
