Default no pics but a short update.

the 408 shortblock is fully assembled except for the pan.
the HVAC stuff is out of the car.
the FMIC is mounted (thats my favorite part)

this weekend we will have the motor in the car.
Then we will put the fuel system in later this week. (nasty cell, magnafuel pump)

the motor will be right around 7:1 CR and have a D1sc attached to it.

of course there are still several small things to do like figure out if we are going to use hood pins or the stock locking mechanism. how we are gonna cover up the top of the radiator and IC. what belt to use the make the stock water pump and alternator (only) work. I've gotta get my Mondo bypass valve welded up to my hot side IC piping, Then do a little work to my PCV stuff like add oil seperator with lines coming from each cover then to a "Y" and into one side then a line coming from the intake side of the blower using it as a vacuum pump.

one thing i learned is that when one thing is changed, there is always a string of events that follow that have to be changed too.

one of the main goals i had with this big change was to make it easier to work on.... im taking off the power steering pump, the ABS module, removing all the HVAC stuff.... an man it looks sooo much roomier in there

before i had a direct port nitrous kit and it was hell to do anything

after the car is finished in hopefully no more than 2 weeks, i praying for atleast 650rwhp with the stock heads home ported and unshrouded by me... it will have to go through a big Drive shaft, 12 bolt with 4.10s and a th350.

looking for sub 6.30's in the 8th... right now i think the car will weigh in at about 3500lb race weight... later ill grab the K-member, front/rear shocks, strange front brakes and front runners. im hoping to see atleast a 3400lb race weight car that i still play with to and from work and where ever else i wanna drive it on 93 oct.

sorry i lied about the short update part

That CR sounds WAY low for the setup.

its a boosted setup? after you fill the cylinder the compression jumps up to about 15:1... which is close to what i want..

You will be in the market for an F1C very soon with a 7:1 408 I would imagine.

But we'll see how it works soon enough I guess

Sounds a like a good plan.

yeah if im not pleased then f1c over the winter

im wanting something that wont even try to over heat when tootling around town and so far everything about the motor that i've done is gonna make it have monster torque down low... ie- big cube, small head, 4.10 12bolt, 2.4x first gear in th350....

so in reality im not wanting a high CR motor at all... plus i'd rather push the blower harder than the motor... replacing the blower is much easier and cheaper

but hopefully ill get to see some results in about 2.5 weeks... or less

im not taking the vent ducking out but that other large POS is out in the floor.... This was done mainly to make it easy to work on... weight reduction was the second reason...

now the motor is in the car.... now i have to machine the procharger hex spacers to fit another pulley in between the crank and alternator because i took out the power steering.... this thing is becoming a bitch... but it will be nice when its done.... if you dont know what im talking about...then you havent deleted the PS from a procharger car.
and if you plan to i wont charge much for a consulting fee

heh, I already made a pulley setup a while back on the lower hex thing for PS delete but I like the power steering so I leave it on.
