Default Race gas???!!! Which one?

ok fellas, my setup involves

403ci iron block w/ forged internals
9.0:1 cr etp 245cc heads
stock intake and t-body
230/236 cam
2" headers and dual 3" exhaust (no cats)
F1R Supercharger 16psi Intercooled

my question is, what race gas should i run? i have heard from Bob at EPP that the setup should make 800rwhp on a mustang dyno on pump gas. but i dont want to run that much power on pump gas, so i have decided to go the race gas route. how much more power will race gas allow me to attain? would something like 103 octane gas be suitable for my application? a list of the types of race gas i should or could use and their possible power capabilities with my setup would be more than optimal and would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, all opinions are appreciated!

103octane eh?? That's a lot of expensive race gas you'll be putting into it

+1 for a Meth Setup
+5 for Staged Injection

I'd just do a meth setup.

The race gas itself won't make any more power. You'd have to up the boost and/or timing to take advantage of it. I don't think you really understand things quite right though: Its not like you're building a 800 rwhp race gas motor and trying to run it on pump gas, its more like a 900 rwhp motor that makes 800 detuned for 93 octane.

You run race gas to:

1) Make your combo safer (if you think it's on the ragged edge of working on 93 octane)

2) Or you run race gas so you can try to make more power by increasing boost or adding timing or whatever means you have at your disposal to make more power

i understand perfectly, hence the wording... "how much more power will the race gas allow me to ATTAIN" i do in fact realize that the gas will make no more power unless i advance the timing. i am simply asking, what is a safe gas to use as many have told me (Speedinc) that pump gas should not be used at the power levels i will be at. i have no experience with race gas, which is why i am looking for opinions. any motor can add race gas and a couple degrees of timing and be at a higher horsepower level, all i want to know is whether or not i should just jump to c16 leaded and make for 1000rwhp or stick with something like 100 octane and sit near 900rwhp. any of my setups will be heavily detuned after maxing out the timing in order to preserve the longevity of the motor. if i wanted 1300 horsepower i have a blower and a motor that could handle it, but i dont want that. im asking from the perspecting of someone trying to build a strong yet safe motor. what octane will provide safety at this power level?? Remember, the higher the power, the higher the cylinder pressure. 93 octane isnt cut out for the cylinder pressures my motor will experience. all in all, i still appreciate the opinion. thankyou

Depends on your combo, and the efficiency of your intercooler.

800rwhp on the Mustang Dyno with 103ci might be pretty safe.

For 1000rwhp I'd be running C16 myself.

In that case I'd get a barrel of high octane unleaded and mix it for around 100 octane, just for safety. If you want 900 RWHP then run something like 110. I guess you just have to decide how much power is enough. Or have 2 tunes, so you can run pump gas on the street and race gas when its time to get on it.
