Default Trans install question

Heh guys, I've pulled my transmission (T56) to replace the clutch slave, clutch and flywheel. Now I'm trying to install the transmission and ran into a problem. The bellhousing hits the bottom of the transmission tunnel before the trans gets lined up. I know that the engine needs to be tilted back in order to have enough room to get everything to line up. I could use a floor jack against the front of the oil pan but I'm worried about cracking the block.

If you've done this before, what did you do? I'm thinking about either loosening the K-member or the engine mounts.

Odd, I've never had to tilt the motor for an LS1 clutch swap

do the bellhousing seperatly. They come apart & its much easier to bolt up the bell housing & then slide the tranny in. Make sure you used a clutch alignment tool or the input shaft will never go in.

I just got finished up my A4 --> M6 swap, and that's how I installed the tranny ... put the bellhousing in first, then bolted to the tranny to that. Went REALLY easy compared to pulling the 4L60E.

Default Thanks

Thanks guys, I should have thought of installing the bellhousing first and that will make it a lot easier to get to the bolts at the top of the bellhousing!
