Default What do you single digit cars think??

I just got my powerglide trans. I will be running a 370 cid motor, twin
67-69mm turbos with about 25 psi boost. I plan on running dragradial class and need advice on where to get the converter. I need somewhere that is a proven winner. What do you think-Neal chance ,Yank,Precision. Let me know what you think. I dont need any specifics as far as stall and things like that. I will be making about 1200-1400 flywheel though. I need to know what guys running 8's are using. Thanks for any help.

Running into the same problem - which converter. I got only 1 solid answer. Big HP - 2nd to none - Neal Chance. Just priced mine out today - didn't order - need to get the money together. Marty quoted me a kick *** turbo converter. If you call, hold on for the price. Not cheap, but their converters are run in almost every fast turbo car - just go to their site. Pretty impressive.

Oh by the way - I have a very similar set-up as you.

How do you know if the converter is perfect? What if two different people built you a converter for your car and they work differently....?

I was trying to get my car tuned with the 6speed still in it for a good dyno graph to give them. I know it will be a guessing game now that I wont be able to use it. I have a brand new ram twin disk in the car with the upgraded ceramic metallic material but it is already slipping and I know there is no way to make a dyno pull with it. So unfortunatly my solid axle swap is going to come early.

I will definalty give Chance a call when I get time.

If there are any suggesions on "anything" else I would appreciate it. Thanks again guys.

Why not put the motor on an engine dyno?

It would be way to hard to get the engine out and all out the other electronics and fuel system.

Two Neal Chance converters here as well as numerous other cars locally that run them. Quite simply, they're the best you can get and they're service is top notch. Marty knows his stuff!

I ordered a converter throught Neal Chance today! They seemed to be the best choise by far and I think it will be a good investment. Just so everyone knows their weld together converter for my twin turbo application was $1300.00 which was no shock. Their bolt together ones are 1999. and aluminums are 2999. I told them exactly what Im doing, what im looking to go and they are custom making one that should be done in about a week. Thanks for the recommendations and I hope this post will show other high powered guys the right direction.

I am not in that big of a hurry.I have to get alot of parts before I can start the solid axle conversion of my C-5. I am looking forward to the day when the whole car is done . It will be something I would like to see it run ,even if it wasnt my car. HAHA.

Neal Chance, Pro Torque and PTC all make good turbo converters!
I have friends with all three that are either in the 7s or will be soon.

He is a small shop but builds just as good or better a coverter as the bigger shops. We run one of his bolt together's in my buddy's true steet Camaro.

If you already had your mind set on one, why did you bother asking?

I didnt have my mind set. I was talking about going with what "works". I already knew that Neal Chance was the way to go for drag radial and outlaw 10.5 classes. I did not know that there was so many LS1 guys running his converters. There were a bunch of guys that I know run good on here that also recommened Neal Chance so it was an odvious choice. Thanks.
