ok i have a 98 z28 a4. (head and cam car) my question is the converter(vig 32-34) is locking up way to early(just started) and the fluid looks burnt..... but the car shifts fine except that every once in a while it will not gear down from 4th unless done manually..... should i try changing the fluid and filter or not waste my time and rebuld??????

You really aren't going to know until you change the fluid so I would do that first and see if the problem goes away.
