Default Turbo GSR vs 98 M6 Z28

Well last night we went to the Wed. Night drags at Sacramento raceway. I was with my friend with an 02' Firehawk and his cousin was taking his 01' Turbo GSR to race. We went in another friends car and followed the GSR to the track. I found out the GSR had a built motor with a T3 turbo pushing 15psi and was making 303whp(which is what another hatchback around here is close to making). He had just bought a pair of drag radials for it also and had them on some 15" wheels. We get to the track and go to the stands to watch and the GSR comes up to race in about 20 mins or so. Well right then, some guys start saying "Oh look Joey is going to smoke this integra for his first race" and I look at the opposing car and see its a LS1 Z28 but didnt know anything else about it so I ask what it has and the guys say "Oh its our friends, its a 98, stick and bone stock, he just got it two days ago for his 17th birthday, and its his first time racing it". So I look and this damn Z28 does a burnout for about 20 seconds and his friends were all like damnnnn. Me and my friends were slightly laughing. The GSR does his burnout to warm up his new DR's and lines up and we being sarcastic start saying DAMN also, lol. Well the lights drop and they go at it and the Z28 is just spinning its tires and the Integra is gone and just pulling away. The times comes up and its 12.8 for the GSR and a 14.3 for the Z28. My friend has it on his camera phone and Ill get him to post it on here. And the end of the night the best time the Z28 got was a 13.9 and my friend's cousin ended up with a 12.7. That little GSR is pretty quick and nice looking also. Not no rice eithier, I actually liked it also. I got to talk to the owner of the GSR and he was a very cool guy. He also knew alot about Mustangs and Camaros and was into all types of cars.

Ok something I didnt post before. It has traction bars on it!!!!!! But it didnt have too much of a problem. It did spin first though and just very small small small bit of 2nd he told us. Said he should be able to hit a 12.5 on radials with some drag springs in back.

Thats a pretty slow trap for a turbo gsr. Even with a T3 sized turbo on there, I would imagine around 115+. No need for wheelie bars for a 12.5

13.9 is not too bad for the first time at the track for a 17 year old kid. Honestly It probably helped him to get nailed like that. After that he probably started learning technique real quick. What was the 60 on the Z?

Anyways, sounds like a fast Integra. Considering how light the integra is, i'm surprised it didn't trap at over 114mph (They weigh around 2,650lbs). Irregardless it's a high 12 sec. ride, and will take most mild bolt on F Bodies from what i've seen at the track.

Have you gotten any times with your Cobra? How does it stack up to your former Z06?

Wheelie bars actually help FWDs a lot. If you preload them right it helps keep weight from transfering to the rear. But for a mild setup like that, it would be overkill in the extreme. Hence the joke.

I've never made an excuse. Please show me where I have. I've noted problems that where wrong with my car, but never have I denounced a loss. Hell Striniss beat me as well as a few people on this board.

I dunno it just seemed like you were making excuses. I'm not looking for an argument, just stating an opinion.

You've got a faster car then me. Take it for what it is.

Who cares about the trap the fact is it ran 12.7 which is pretty fast for an import hell even for a V8. My buddy just put a B20 with GSR head in his GSR and he is making 230 whp and has a nice vid of him pulling a stock looking SS on the freeway.

I think everyone's major issue is that they typically don't get track times. I see a busload of LS1/ 03 Cobra owners busting out 14's at the track, and always coming up with excuses. Those guys would get handed their *** by that GS-R.

I think what i'm getting at is that alot of the people on here, though they don't wanna say it, haven't gone to the track, but base their times on who they beat, whom does have a 1/4 mile time.

A 12 sec. Tegra could take in alot of money on the street from what i've seen. A couple hundred dollars here and there add up, and most people would underestimate him. Heck i've seen Z06's running 13's (C5's) at Speedway.
