Im deciding on subs and its either of the two. I used to have 2 JL 12W3s and it sounded great, but maybe want something different. My choces need to be ~1 cu. ft/piece of space (rear hatch well) I was lookin at the square Kicker solo-barics (2-12s) or 2 JL audio 12s?
Good or bad things about either?

I like the sound of my JL.The Kickers you will need a very powerful amp since they are power hungry speakers.

Kicker is my weapon of choice. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I'm turning in my girlfriends Z28 and the 145db
Kicker sound system is for sale. If your looking
for a sound system that rocks check my post in the classifieds (C5 heads and car audio)paid over

When I was shopping for stereo equipment, most of the people I asked who had experience with car audio recommended the JL subs. I have one JL W3D2 in a Stealthbox enclosure and it's great. People who ride in the car can't believe that much bass comes out of one 10".

Hey I work in a car stero shop and we sale more JL than anything they kick a**. Hey man sound is round the JL sound alot better than the kicker. I have heard both and the JL are alot cleaner bass.

That is true the JL is a cleaner speaker if you are comparing it to the solobaric but the solobaric will be louder. Now as far as the Comp VR's go as long as you stick with a JL in the same price range the sound will be very similar to each other.
P.S. oh yea I forgot to meantion if you want the best of both worlds go with one Eclipse Titanium 12" in a ported box. Now that is something either company will have a hard time messing with. I had 3 of the older round solo 12's in my 2002 Transam Convertable and that one Eclipse hit Almost as hard and sounded 100 times better. Only downside is the size of the amp you need for the titaniums.....

Kicker...all the way. I've tried several subs, although I admit JL isn't one of them. They're great sounding subs, but I've known several people to have reliability issues. Maybe they just have bad luck, who knows. It is true, however that the Kickers nedd alot more power, as for the sound, I listen to heavy metal, rap, rock, and country, and I haven't been disappointed by their range of sound yet! I have one 12" Square in my car with 675 watts pushing it, this is alot of power, but put the power the a solobaric and you won't be disappointed!

Consider the Alpine R12's. I used to be a Die-Hard JL man. I love the way my R12's sound. I have 2 in my Camaro and managed to salvage room for my T-Tops.
Check it out sometime if you would like to:
