Default What are the benefits of lighting a stock 5.3 crank?

Would there be any long term effects, and what about use light weight rods and pistons?

Thanks.

On my new 383, I had my crank lightened for quicker revs and better oil control. Done correctly, it should improve acceleration; as lightening any rotating part will do.

They also go hand in hand, you can't have a 33lbs crank without rods and pistons that are much lighter than normal since the counterweights are where most of the mass is.
