Scratches on windows
On the driver and passenger side windows I have the common scratches (on the outside) due to worn out pads, new ones are on the way soon.
So now I want to use some glass scratch remover to take out the existing scratches but, I have talked to a bodyshop owner and he says that scratches in glass are impossible to get out.
Is that true? or has anybody here used some type of compound that has worked? The scratches are pretty light, my thumbnail wont get caught on them.
lots of info would be great
thanks.

You can take them out of the car and find a glass company that can polish them out for you. Not all can do it but there are a few that will, they cant do windsheilds due to the liability of it distorting the drivers veiw slightly.

Yes we can buff scratches out of windshields too. The only scratches you can get out have to be very light whether it is the w/s or door glass. If you can feel them with you finger nail on any glass they will not come out. If you can not feel them the will buff out fairly easy. I can sell you a glass polishing kit it would come with the buffing wheel for a drill and the compound, but it is kind of expensive.Let me know if you are serious and I will do some price checking for you...

that looks like a pretty good kit. I would say it is worth a shot, Just remember keep the glass really wet while polishing. Use water mixed with glass cleaner this keeps the glass cool while your buffing. Let me know how it goes..

When I replace the belt mouldings on the fourth gen doors I break the front clip off. This makes the job mutch easier especially if the mirror is still on the door. The clip isnt needed anyway due to the mirror holding pressure on top of the moulding. Also put a strip of tape along the top edge of the door, its very easy to scratch the door while trying to line up the clips.
You may allready know this but thought I would throw it out there anyway.
