I am thinking about buying

to finish my system. I am not in a hurry to buy them, probably in about a month I will more than likely buy them unless you have any other suggestions. I am planning on getting some kick panels made for 1 set of the component speakers. I also think I will be getting rid of the 4's in the hatch. I already have 2 x 15" L7's and an Eclipse AVN5435 DVD/Nav Headunit. This should be all I need to complete my system.

Looks good if you want to stay with all kicker. You don't really need a 4 channel amp to run the components with if you plan on having 1 set in the door and 1 set in the kicks. You could save some money and get a 2 channel amp and run a set on each channel at 2 ohms instead of getting a 4 channel amp and running each channel at 4 ohms.

I would like to stay with kicker, but if their are better components to be had at around the same price I really don't care what brand it is. I care about how it sounds in the end.

I can't say anything bad about the kicker components because I've never heard them. Kicker is known for making good subs and amps but not so much components. If it were me I would go with some components from a company that was known for making good components. If you want to stay with all Kicker stuff you will probably be happy with them. If the components are anything like the subs they will probably take a beating and get real loud but not have the best sound quality when compaired to brands known for sound quality.

I ended up buying a 600.4, 1 set of KS 6.5 Components and 1 set of 6.5 SS Mid bass speakers today. Hopefully It will be in by the end of next week and I'll tell you how they sound. Depending on how it is I might end up buying another set of KS 6.5 components

Cool, let me know how it sounds. Where are you mounting the midbass speakers? I highly suggest putting them in the doors with a set of components in some custom kicks. The upper range of midbass speakers are directional and it is best if they are kept close to the component set your wanting them to mix with. Also make sure you have crossovers for the mids, not sure if they come with any.

I'm putting the mid's in the backseat, the components in the front door and later on I wanna put a set of components in some kickpanels

Crutchfield is kinda of pricy, you can find the same thing cheaper elese where.

I didn't buy it from crutch field....I have $350 in it right now...for the amp, SS midbass and 1 set components. I'm 19 and price shop for stuff like crazy.

kicker's high end has always done very well for sound quality. There rs5c and rs6c line from 3 years ago has won many awards. Why do you think they were out so long? The SS is a big improvement, I mean night and day difference. I've had mb quartz which at the time I thought were a little better than the RS line, the ss are etirely a different design. I would put them up to any other high end component for sound quality. Yes, they will handle a little more power but none the less, kicker stepped up to the plate to compete in the high end components. They did their homework. I do think they lack on the midbass range, at least in an fbody. If your running any kind of sub, your not going to hear it.

wickedwarlock you have been the guy whose system I have looked at since I got my 2 x 15" L7's and found out you had them in your car also. I am surprised you didn't remember the couple of pm's I sent you. You have been a big help along the way and another reason I decided to also get kicker components after hearing them in my in 2 of my friends cars(non F-body).

Back when I was an installer no one around my area really used Kicker mids and highs. The ones that did use them were people that were just wanting to stick with all one brand. I always felt like Kicker focused most of their research on their subs. Times change.

From what I saw the people that stuck with one brand for their whole system were the ones that didn't take the time to research and find out what the best subs, amp, components, ect were for their money. They would just come in knowing that Kicker was a good brand for subs and they would have a whole Kicker system installed. Same with Pioneer, Rockford, ect.

For my money I still think I would go with some lower end MB Quartz or Focals over lower to mid range Kickers. Kicker probably has some really nice top of the line stuff but for the money my bet would be on the brands that have been refining their component systems for years. :engarde:

I'm glad your enjoying the audio world. It's addictive. I'm a jl fan and fosgate from the past. I've been using kicker the past two vehciles and have been pleased. I had rs5cs and rs6c in my 2003 dodge quad cab truck. They were not bad, the ss components are such an improvement. But to some, there's 2 other lines they offer aswell. The middle line is nice too, and some people say they are as good as their ss line. It still boils down to choice. I mean, it's your hearing is what counts, not anyone elses. Based on that, buy what you think sounds good to you.

The market alwawys changes, kicker waited nearly 10 years to changes that rs line out to the next step. They did some research as I was saying. You are correct, kicker hasn't really defined their product until 2004 (intro of ss line). They have been doing so well for them, as far as that price range. The made a very good product and it placed well for them. I think they decided to step up the notch with the new designed L7 line and the new solo x line they figured they would step up to in the component line.

I agree, speakers really should be your choice, as I have stated in the past, there's really no one good company, everyone's hearing is different (maybe too much bass, we are now all tone def, lol). Seriously, each companies speaker sounds different, so what you may like, I may not and vice versa. Speakers are like buying cars, hehe. There's many choices and we can narrow down what we like. And sometimes, we can't afford what we really want so we take the next best thing to it.

watch ebay.com There's some good deals there. No way I would spend the msrp retail for those ss. It's over $900 a set, lol.

I did end up getting it all my stuff off ebay...paid $150 for the kx600.4, paid $120 for the KS 5.2 Components, Paid $130 for the 65.2 Components, and paid $80 for the SS Midbass

So I have $480 in it. Which I would have spent on SS Components only.
