So it seems that GM is not going to bring back the firbird and I'm not sure who said it but a person hirer up said that firbird fans will have to buy camaro's. Well I won't be giving them my money. I am a Trans Am fan more than a F-body fan. I'll buy a new vette before a camaro

I like the new Camaro. The only reason i even got "into" car was the 1998-2002 Firebird/TransAMs. So I doubt I would replace my Ws6 with a New Camaro. But if things go right maybe in addition too. I know that there wont be a new Firebird for sometime if ever, but i think this is a Mistake.

I'd rather have just one of them that is built RIGHT and is an EXCELLENT car... than have both being just mediocre because they're feeding off the same already tight budget.
Being that Camaro outsold Firebird by a considerable margin, it makes sense they would keep the Camaro name and drop Firebird. Personally, I don't care if they called it "Abubika", if it's a RWD, 2-door car with gobs of horsepower, I'm down.

To be honest I'd never even consider owning a Camaro. I chose my car for its amazingly unique look and style and the Camaro just doesnt do it for me in any generation 1st-5th. But i guess to each his own and to be honest i wont be getting another car for years or until my car blows up but I see another Trans Am replacing it

I voted no.
Personally I don't really care what they call it, but I've never seen a camaro I really liked.
If I buy something new I'll do the same thing I did last time. Look at everthing (thank god I found the 'bird, otherwise I'd be driving an eclipse or a mustang).
I like the 'vettes, but that isn't going to happen due to the price.
GTO is nice, but I'm not buying now, so I'm not buying.
Having said all that, IMO they are doing the right thing. Having just one model in that category should allow them to stay competitive.
At least they're back in the market. That is a good thing.

Here's what I don't get. They say it is to expensive to put 2 formats of the same car out . What about the pontiac soltice and saturn sky, what about the trailblazer, there is a GMC version, buick, olds, and one more I forget. How does that work for those cars and SUV's and I didn't even include the pickup trucks.

I'll buy two. A coupe and a convertible. All this "Pontiac Proud" stuff is kind of lame, it isn't like you guys are driving ultra rare 1969 Trans Ams or SD 455 collector cars. Many of the guys that are "Firebird Proud" roll around with $8K beat up 4th gens. Sorry, but a new Camaro is going to be a nicer car than these 4th gens.
Honestly, with all the Firebird crying going on, it almost makes me embarrased for being a part of the Firebird owners here. We do NOT want to be seen as bitchy crying a-holes, do we?

1. Sky/Solstice are just meant to be image cars. Rolling advertisements. They didn't require 200,000 of them to be sold. Camaro was brought back from the dead, and this was because they MUST sell 200,000 to justify the development of it. They need numbers sold with the Camaro. By having one model, it cuts their development and tooling costs. History has shown that the bigger budgets were spent on Firebirds in the past, but Camaros outsold the Firebirds.
2. Trucks? Simple, because they sell a shitload of them. Those things justify themselves. I'll bet if GM sells 300,000 Camaros, they will consider putting out a Firebird in the following year. The project has to justify itself first.
