Default Speedinc True Dual system???? Worth it?

Hey, I am trying to get a true dual system for my formula. I want something with good clearance. I dont know of ANY muffler shops that would do it near me, so im goin out on a limb and willing to take my car out of state if needed. I want 3 inch piping over the axle for good clearance but Speedinc says that a panhardbar relocation kit is required which costs about 1000$. Im willing to pay a good amount for good work but im wondering if thats WAY too much money? Or will the relocation kit be worth it in itself? Im not quite sure what a panhard bar even does?

True Duals, dump infront of the rear axle, then get fake tips. Much easier and cheaper.

i guess the fake tips would be for emission reasons, a cop could give you a ticket for having dumped exhaust depending on where you live

the TSP setup doesn't require the parhard thing, but it dumps. there is also the Bassani true duals that go all the way out the back, and i don't believe it requires the relocation

the relocation is of the upper phr which lowers it about an inch or maybe a little more. the relocation kit is made by BMR and costs $ 219. This allows more room for the exhaust to clear the upper panhard rod bar since the car was not made with room for two exhaust pipes coming over the axle.

There is room to fit two 2 1/2 inch pipes over the passangers side axle without any relocating of the bar. Hundreds of us have done it. And if you tuck the pipes up in the body the way the stock pipe ran, you will have a lot more ground clearance with a dual system than you had with that silly "Y" pipe system. A good muffler shop can build you a quality dual exhaust system. Just get him some pictures of a few systems to give him an idea of what you are talking about.

I have Speed Inc's dumped duals and they are of excellent quality. Worth every penny. If that is any indication, then their over-the-axle setup should be great!

if you look at the rear bumper on a firebird, there is an indention for the exhaust. If you get TDs and have nothing there, it looks weird. At least it looked weird on my 2000 TA. The fake tips take up the space, and make it look normal.

Camaro owners dont have this problem, as stated we're stuck with empty openings in the bumper.

to go over the axel you will need the panhard bar relocation kit. that is true. it is about +/- $200 my buddy jsut got his TD put on by speed, dumped for about +/-$600.. good luck.. and to be honest the Trans Am looks better with tips out the back

you do not the upper panhard brace from BMR with the bassani tru-duals. it's made to fit with all stock suspension components. have it on both cars. click the links in my sig for pics.

also, the bassani is dual 2.5". for a dual 3" over the axle, you will need the relocation bar.

I've had both. The true dual is AWSOME! If you dump before the axle it's loud inside the car. If you drive the car alot I would get the true duals!

He is only stating what Speed Inc. has on their website. It clearly says the PHB relocation is necessary for an over-the-axle setup. It isn't so hard for one to come to the conclusion that Speed Inc. will not fab the exhaust without a relocated PHB. Here you go, sir.
