Would headers and catted y give me hp gains...help please.
Hope anyone can help me. I have a relatively stock 02 ss. I have the slp 20 hp package that you can special order with the vehicle. basically its the air induction kit and the center mounted exhaust. everything else engine wise is basically stock except for a full suspension kit and a slp loudmouth exhaust.
i am looking to purchase these mac mid length headers used and it comes with a catted y pipe. Will installing these mac mid length and catted y with the set up i have, will it help with the hp gains or will it hurt me? and will i have clearance problems. my ss is lowered about an 1" to 1"1/2. what other advice can you guys give? thanks for any help anyone can give.

I just switched from Macs to longtubes and I don't notice any real "seat of the pants" gains. (haven't had it at the track yet) The sound is less raspy tho. The Mac Y pipe hangs pretty low, I actually have better ground clearance with my longtube setup. The cats that come on a catted Mac Y pipe supposedly flow pretty poorly. (mine was ory) Yes you'd still see some gains.

I went from 303/318 with a SLP Blackwing lid (same lid as the 345HP Pkg) and a Magnaflo muffler on a 325HP car to 329/340 untuned with the addition of Kooks LTs, Catted Y and Corsa exhaust if that helps any. I have plenty of ground clearance with the Hotchkis springs too. I'm with everyone else go with LT's.

I was always worried about ground clearance since I am lowered, after installing the Pacesetters and ORY, I am glad that I didnt go mids like I had planned. Good Luck and if you go LT's you wont regret
