Any of you used a rattle can clear coat for under the hood? If so.. please post pics and the brand of paint you used. I want to clear coat the top of the fender wells.

Just my 2 cents here: But I would not, and didn't, use clearcoat after I refinished my shock towers. Reason is the original shock towers as with the rest of the engine compartment was not clearcoated. Almost without question there are going to be areas that you cannot reach with the clearcoat unless you pull the engine. So you're going to end up with really nice glossy areas next to unfinished flat areas. When I filled in the holes and smoothed my shock towers I simply resprayed them with Onyx Black(stock color) and they turned out to look absolutely like they came that way from the factory. Blended in perfect with the surrounding areas and you can't tell it was even painted.
Like I say, just my opinion, but that was my reasoning for not clearcoating them. Looks factory and blends in well.

well if you end up spraying just black make sure you just fog it on. Properly sprayed base coat should have no orange peel and will leave you with a finish that looks much glossier than whats under the hood now. Here is an intake manifold sprayed onyx black without any clear.
