Default TD's rasp until running temp then sounds good

Is this normal at all?

I'm running 2.5" TD's, no merge pipe, and bullets under the axle.

it rasps and sounds kinda nasty till running temp, then it sounds pretty good.

it's normal for your exhaust to be much louder during cold startup since the engine idles higher. you probably are hearing more rasp because your exhaust is a lot louder from the high engine idling. that and on cold startup, the pressure in the exhaust tubes aren't equilized. once the exhaust gases heat up and the engine warms, the idle drops, noise is supressed and pressure in the exhaust tubes are more equilized, all helping result in a smoother tone.

it's normal.

why would they be more equalized upon reaching full temp?

simply because as soon as you start up your car, the exhaust gases aren't equilized since the tubes are full of air. it's not instantaneous. it may take a minute or two. the exhaust tracks on each side are not 100% equal. even headers themselves are not the same exact length, let alone the exhaust tubing that runs out of the headers.

Nowhere in your incoherent rambling of a post did anything even resemble a rational thought. We are all dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may the german castrol elves have mercy on your soul. What the hell are you smoking??? Can I have some? Please?
*just bustin your chops choco, all in good fun*

navyblue2000: All exhaust sounds a little different when the system is cold, and it's got nothing to do with any kind of pressure......perfectly normal.
