Cheapest/easiest way to make my car stop shifting into 2nd so early?
My car is a bone stock 99 TA with the 3.23 rear.
I really enjoy driving the car but one thing has started to get annoying the more I drive it around town. Everytime I turn onto a new street my car wants to shift into 2nd gear unless I push it a little harder than I want to throughout the turn to keep it in 1st. I'd like to be able to keep the car in 1st without having to get on it as much as I currently need to because it sometimes brings unwanted attention. What would be the best way to go about doing this? Basically I want to be able to drive around 'normally' but be able to stay in 1st gear coming off a turn more easily while doing it. It gets annoying when it shifts into 2nd and then I have to practically floor it to make the car downshift again. Thanks!

Any recommendation for which one is the best/easiest to use?
edit: I think I finally found a price on HPTuners -- $500? Is that correct?
If so, no thanks. I'm not going to pay that much when the only thing I want to do is alter my 1st gear shift point. Is there anything else that's much cheaper that can get this job done? Or perhaps I could take it to a performance shop and have them do it for a small fee? That's the ONLY thing I want to do--edit the shift point for 1st->2nd gear. I could care less about the other stuff

Most of the popular PCM tuning software will have a table where you can specify what MPH you want each gear change to occur at. You set what MPH you want and reflash the PCM.
We are using LT1 edit on my '94, and have to play with it a little as I have target RPM's, not MPH, that I want it to shift at. So... have to change the MPH in the PCM tune, make a pass with datalogging software, and then see at what RPM it actually made the shift. There's some back and forth involved, as you can see. Adding to the mix is the fact that we have specified a MPH for a shift, and it will still shift a couple MPH early for some reason. However, we almost have it dialed in right where I want it.
