Default Vinyl Top

This might be a stupid question but on first gen (67-69) Camaros is there normal sheet metal underneath the vinyl top? Can you remove the vinyl top and do any necessary body work and have a normal non vinyl top car?

Yes and yes. Typically when you remove the vinyl, you might see some rust on the front edge and lower sections of the quarters and around the rear window. Also there will be some welding to fill in the holes from the trim. This particular removal takes place ALL the time. Good luck!

I can't speak for a first gen camaro specifically because I've never done that to one, but we did the exact same thing to my friend's 64-1/2 Mustang and it'll be fine once you sand the adhesive off.
