any easy way of getting that off the back without breaking it?

GM has a tool (socket) for it, J 41712 - maybe someone will let you borrow one...

I just bought a new one from GM. When I take off the broken one and install the new one will my oil pressure guage work again??

^^^yea....but my thing is i have a ls1 manifold just sitting around with the working oil sending unit and i just needed to figure out how to get it off without breaking the hell out of it....and i dont see how a socket would do it...hmm theres no edges...but if gm has a part ?!! ok

I just bought a oil pressure socket at autozone and it works. Its 1-1/16
