Question New Rear main.. New stall?

Alright. Im going to be replacing the rear main seal in my T/A this weekend and while I am under there I was thinking about getting a new torque converter. If I were to get a bigger stall, would it effect my gas mileage? And how does the stall feel in city driving? I was thinking about a 3000?

Thanks guys!

Also would I be able to install a new stall w/out a tune?
