so i am going to be doing some street racing and want to be, well a sleeper i guess you can say. i was wondering if with my set up in my sig if i could run my stock exhaust? i was thinking that you couldnt hear the cam as much and with my cut outs whats the difference. i could open them when i want to race. how would my cats be? would i kill them?

the cats cant widthstand much as far as running with close to no exhaust... i would say a week of regular driving with the cut out open all the time and it would fry them, and then you get to see that pretty little service engine soon light which we all have learned to love.

but nobody's stupid enough to mistake a WS6 for a slow POS, well then again people do put mufflers on hondas..lol

If your tryin to race anybody who knows anything about cars id forget it, the majority of the car crowd knows a LS1 T/A when they see it, just my 2 cents

yep...if i heard a lil bit of exhaust and saw a ss/ws6 i would know a minimum or 13.5, so no, hard to play it off as slow..

You'll obviosly won't be able to pull off a sleeper with a WS6, but if you want a silent-like exhaust to make people think it's a bone stock WS6 (which obviously will still rape a lot of cars), do longtubes, catted y-pipe and SLP dual/dual exhaust. It'll flow great and be pretty stealthy.

so a cut out will ruin my cats? even if its back by the mufflers. they are brand new stock cats. (warrenty)

any after market exhaust is going to make your sleeper look go bye bye. especially when you open those cutouts. and why the loudmouth?? thats not going to sound stock. and that cam isnt going to help either. if you really want a sleeper, id get the cheater cam, port your heads and throttle body, some pullies, the torque converter and gears, and up the shot to a 150 and pray the the transmission holds. since most people assume louder = faster, your going to want to keep it quiet. but like said earlier... you cant make a ws6 a sleeper. besides, our cars are soposed to be loud crazy s.o.bs happy hunting either way.

A cutout will not hurt your cats.

For real. Why would a cutout do anything to the cats? It just make the exhaust flow through them faster due to more velocity cuz there'd be no backpressure after the cats.

I remember this guy around here had an old ass dodge dart with a big block with high compression and he could rev up and blow the caps off his cutouts.

as jmm98LS1 said, a cutout will not hurt your cats. not even a little bit. you'll pick up a few hp though :)

it sholdnt effect ur cats wat so ever. but for a sleeper a elec. cutout would be sweet.

I agree....I have the SLP Dual Dual on my SS and it is VERY quiet but,if your read up on the catback you will find that many agree that its one of the best flowing catbacks along with being one of the quietest....ESPECIALLY if you get a catted Y.
As for frying out your cats...I had a 98' TA that I ran with an open cutout for 92K miles before I sold her.NEVER a problem with the cats...

Never heard the SLP dual/dual in person, but I know my Magnaflow with cats is relatively quiet.
