Default Removing HARD WATER streaks?

Well about 2 weeks ago i power washed my engine bay.

All went great she looks brand new etc.....

But i forgot to wash the outside after.......

I have streeks down both front fenders and dots all over the front end.

How the fack do i get them off?

I tried washing and waxing with a **** load of elbow grease but they all stayed there.

I used house soap and some black magic wet wax. Its shity but thats all i have were the car is.

What should i do fellas?

Do you have a buffer? If not, then I suggest you get one. Because I think a buffer will get it right off.

Eh, go buy a clay bar. Bust out your quick detailer and go to town.

I've never heard of the above mentioned "tricks". Rubbing alcohol is going to strip any wax you have on the car off though.

House soap is going to strip off wax as well. Go buy some decent Meguiars/equivelant car soap first off. Then go at it with the claybar/quick detailer after you dry it. That should take care of your problems. Then do yourself a favor and wax that bitch every couple months.

Oh and for facks sake be carefull power washing the engine bay

Washing the bay was fine. No paint came off. All the **** was taken out on when i washed too, my battery tray is trashed and behind my AC condeser has metal showing, but thats from 13yrs of wear.

The engine bay might go in for paint, and might not, i havent decided.

I'm usually more worried about the electrical aspect of it. You really shouldn't be spraying high pressure water anywhere near that kinda of stuff.

As with the newer LSX cars, there are quite a few ways to screw yourself. Hence the sticky at the top. Definately don'y go anywhere near that optispark...

Don't do it on Mustangs either. Don't ask how I know.

Bandit,

The engine/tranny is out of the car. As well as A/C lines, ABS and all wires.

Thats why i sprayed.

I agree with the clay bar idea. I had my black vette outside while it rained, the sun baked water spots into the paint. I got my clay bar out and they were gone.

Do you just spray on the 50/50 mix of water and vinegar, then just rinse it off or is there more to it?

I just spray it on a towel and wipe it on the car where the spots are. It's very simple and it has always worked for me. If you have a lot of them you can just spray it on the car and use a towel to wipe it off.

Clay bar removes wax too. Just about anything that is going to help remove water spots will. The quick detailer acts as a nice lubricant, but I would still re-wax afterwards.
