Default I see oil...help!

2001 Trans Am, stock internals, just bolt-ons. 58k, regular German Castrol OW-30 oil changes, all maintenance up to date.

I was under my car changing o2's last night and saw a film of oil right between the front of the transmission meeting the bellhousing (?) . The oil drain plug was dry and around the oil filter the area was dry. Is this cause for major concern?

I'm figuring the rear main seal is bad and a little oil is making its way through. Maybe this is why my clutch is chattering a bit from a dead stop in 1st (zo6 clutch.) I have an extended warranty that should cover this. Am I on the right track with my thoughts? How urgent is this to get fixed? All input is appreciated!

I would also like to know because I always have a small amount of oil in the same place.

Did you say 0W30 or is it 10W-30?

Best guess is the rear main seal. Also possibly oil pan gasket.

I have oil in the same place. It never drips on the ground though but I can see where it has blown back onto my transmission pan. It seems to come and go though so I don't know what's up.
