Default LS7 clutch with resurfaced LS1 flywheels?

Just wondering if it's 100% necessary to get an LS2 flywheel to use this clutch on a 2002 fbody, or can a resurfaced stock LS1 flywheel be used? Will all of the stock hydraulics work with this setup?

Thanks!

From what I have read on the COUNTLESS posts, no it will not work. You NEED an LS2 flywheel.

Is this due to the LS2 flywheel being thicker or thinner? If it's thicker, then could the LS1 flywheel be shimmed to work?

Thanks.

The flywheel it like $170. If I can get away with just shimming the LS1 flywheel then I'll do that. That's why I'm wondering with the actual reason is that you need the LS2.

You NEED the LS2 flywheel. The contacts where the PP bolts on to the flywheel are raised and this is required. Look at mine in the picture and you will see the raised contact points.

^^^What he said.

From my understanding, there is no way of getting the LS7 clutch to work with an LS1/6 flywheel.

Thanks, that's all I wanted to know.

I just hate it when people have no problem telling you something, but have no idea why it has to be that way except because someone else told them it does.

FYI: If you get a used one and resurfaced, both parts need machined equally... but most machinists would know that.
