Default Please help, 1996 Tahoe 5.7L

Alright people, here's the story, I sold my 94 LT1 camaro to buy a 1996 chevy Tahoe (moved to michigan, decided i need 4wd), I am look to do some slight exhaust mods. First off, I want a ton of sound, performance is not a concern, I mean, I am not hittin the strip in a ****** 5500 pound vehicle and 32 inch tires, haha...Anyways, for now since i am in college, I just wanna do a minor exhaust upgrade. Headers and cats are stayin stock for now. Now for the muffler, i am either thinkin dual in/dual out or dual in single out with a turndown so that u can't see the exhaust. either way, I need a loud muffler. I have been lookin at the Flowmaster super40, Hooker aero chamber, flowtech warrior(i'd leave it uncapped like the race application), or sweet thunder.. Any info would help, also, does anyone know what size the stock piping is? Is it 2.25in or 2.5? PLZ HELP ME, need to decide soon, I want the exhaust soon so I can bring the truck back to college...Also, plz don't tell me stright pipes or no muffler, I need to pass emissions...Thanks

Wow. Best bet is to try hitting the tab at the top of the page and post this in the truck forum. Good luck.

I had a flowmaster on my 92 Yukon 5.7L, then a Magnaflow. I liked the Magnaflow better, more of a throaty subdued sound. I went with a magnaflow cat-back on my 02 silverado 5.3L (along with volant CAI and superchips programmer) and it sounds nice as well and is just as tame as stock with a bit more power. Flowmaster 40 series should be pretty loud with a lot of annoying highway drone if that's what you are after.
I think stock is 2.5".
