I know the 98's sucked, when did the F-bods get the good oil pump? Also, in 01-02 did GM REALLY tighten up the main clearances, or is that just heresay, if so, any techs/mechanics have any input on the REAL benefits of it? Is it worth getting an 01 for?

Not sure of all this but the 01-02 cars came with the LS6 oil pump, better connecting rod bolts, and they may have had different cam and main bearings. And I think the oil passages on the 98 block were altered/upgraded the following year.
