What are you going to use the car for?
There's some good info in the Raod race forum, but you'll probably have to search for it.
Essentially, yes they are relaible and will free up some 20rwhp or so. So in that respect they sound like a good deal.
The down side is they pump water coolant at a constant, I believe equiverlent to about 4500rpm engine speed on a mechanical pump. This means for street use and 1/4 mile drag use they work great.
However if you do a lot of circuit racing or high speed usage such as the Silver State Classic run, where you will run at continious speeds at 140mph+ then the electric pump isn't so good. This is because for this type of use you will spend more time above 4500rpm, so the mechanical pump will flow greater than the electric one. This can result in higher engine temps and over heating. BUT only under these circumstances. At all other times, it will be more efficent than a mechanical one.
