I really just want to find out if this is normal or if something is messed up. I have a racetronix fuel system on my 02 Camaro with an autometer electronic fuel pressure gauge. When I would turn on the ignition and not start the engine, the fuel pump would always run for a few seconds and build up about 45# of pressure and hold (don’t remember how long though). After I installed my heads, and had to remove the fuel line, the pressure will build to 45 and then bleed down to nothing within about 30 seconds if I don’t start the car.

When I start it up though the pressure holds strong at 60#.

I see no fuel leaking anywhere and the car runs fine – is this normal?

30 sec is too fast to bleed down to 0 psi.

but if you havent messed with anything in the tank recently then you might have a leak from the fuel pressure hose.

The tank hasnt been off since the new fuel system went in and there is no fuel on the engine/intake.

I just put in SVO 30# injectors and had it tuned along with the heads/cam setup. Could that have anything to do with it?

Anyone else have something to say about this? I dont have a leak at all.

The check valve in your pump is not very robust and can actually come loose and end up in the fuel system. Besides the small plastic valve floating around and getting stuck in the filter its really nothing to concern yourself with. Just pause a second before moving your key from Run to Start to let pressure come up a bit.
