Shorty's or Long tubes?

Shorty's or Long tubes? I tried to hide this before just because some people are extremely opinionated and biased but here goes; i've decided to put an LS1 in the back of my porsche 911. I'm tired of having a high 13 sec car and seeing a stock STI's rear end at the middle of a race 
. Sure a rwd 13 sec car is fun for a while but it gets boring, actually it's got the "big" engine in it (3.6) and thats supposed to excite me. 
This last monday i purchased a built (cam and heads) LS1 from Timmy2stage and he says it pushed a 3600 lb car through the traps at 124 mph on just the motor. So having a 2700 lbs car with that same motor i'm hoping will run high 10's on drag radials.
Aside from explaining the weight differances of the motors and "will it fit" questions (btw i would love explaining the swap to anyone that asks, i just think if you're interested you'd look in the hybrids section), this question pertains to all LS1/2/6/7/V8 engines:
I'm looking for the most out of this motor and since my application is rear engined i run into an exhaust problem. Shorty's would yield the easiest exhaust route but if i wanted to go the easy route i woulda bought a turbo and had a 12 sec car i want something badass and thats why i chose an LS1, i'm not sure if i'd get the same power from the shorty's compared to a long tube header. The Long tubes can't be past the pulley (rear engined remember) since i'm limited on room.
I'm not looking for a "check out the hybrids section" answer, only because i'm interested in knowing only if long tubes are BETTER (point of view i know) than a shorty block hugger style header. Thanks again guys in advance for explaining something like this to a newB at your site, I've had some great in depth answers from you guys before.

go for longtubes for sure, if you're not good at fabricating, have a buddy do it for ya. Buy some LS1 flanges from GM, and a DYI header kit, and go nuts. Shorties don't work terribly well on ls1's, as the stock manifolds aren't bad, so people dont see much of a difference. (and if flipped, make great turbo manifolds, lol 
.. good luck with the swap, there's been a few 911 or 944 swaps (i think, i'm not too hot on porsche number lingo), . theres a guy that goes by the name of "toy jet" that has a swapped porsche, look him up. good luck, once you get a conversion done, you just look at every other car on the road, and think.... what if it had an ls1 in it?

Longtubes man. If you get shortys you are leaving power on the table. Eventually you will want to upgrade them so just save yourself the trouble and get the longtubes now. You wont regret it.

Timmy2stage is quoting this motor 500+ hp with the cam and heads ect, which diameter tubes and what size collector would you suggest on a stock 346 bottom end? Thanks guys.

NO cats and Shorties for the easy install, longtubes okay, heard alot of complaints on running to rich with longtubes though. I have the shorties with the ceramic coating, and make plenty of power. If I went longtubes I might see another 5 to 10 hp, not worth the headache to me.

I got 15hp/ 15 tq with my shorties.....sure longtubes give more tq but u also have to deal w/ how low they hang also and all the freakin banging around they have also
