Default Heat wrapping crossover gained 3 psi

Just thought it was interesting that after wrapping my crossover with header wrap I gained abou 2.5-3 psi of boost with no other changes. I did not touch the wastegate after wrapping just to see what it did.

Boost went from about 8 to 11 psi.

sweet deal...didn't think that much heat would be lost over such a short distance to cause that big of a change

I thought it might pick up 1 psi, but not 3. The other good thing is that not as much heat is transmitted to the stuff near the crossover now.

Definitely going to have to wrap my kit now, whenever the freaking turbo blanket GP happens!

sure there wasnt a leak somwhere? Thats a lot of psi to pick up with just a short run. Good deal though!

What's the design of the kit? Is it front mount? What, exactly, does the crossover connect?

I am 99% sure I had no leaks, however I may have had a slight one that I could not pick up on. I think it is mainly due to my crossover being 18 gauge wall mild steel. Loses at lot of heat.

The crossover connect my passenger side stock manifold to the drives side log header. Length of the crossover is about 3.5 feet give or take a couple inches.

wow!! Is wrapping much more effective than coating inside and out? Is it worth wraping along with coating?

My opinion is wrapping would be more effective than coating, but doing both probably would not hurt. I was surprised it picked up that much too, but after running the car I could touch the wrapping and not get burned. Maybe I can get some wrapped/unwrapped temps for you guys. I have a laser thermometer; if I remember I will use it and see.

That's crazy. I'm definitely doing that on my rear mount. If your results were that well on a front mount, mine should be just as good, if not better on the *** mount. Keep us posted.
