Default Untuned STS 60mm... Xylene an option???

Just got the 60mm put on today, and only pulling 5psi. Still have stock injectors for the moment. I am getting the car tuned in a week, will Xylene keep it safe till then?? If so, how much do i need to mix per tank??I can't keep my foot out of it. I noticed it starting to fall off in the top of third. Do you think this is a lean conition?

I hope you have some $$ saved up for a new motor. DO NOT BOOST AN UNTUNED MOTOR. If you still have the stock tune in there you will blow it up. Just use some self control and save your $$ and motor.

Unless you want to replace the motor, you need to stay out off boost until it is tuned.

I would wait to boost it until you get to check the tune because no matter how much octane you put in it ,it will break if the tune is real bad.

As far as Xzylene? I have used it for years in my turbo Buicks and it does make a huge diference. just make sure you add a little Marvel mistery oil with it.

I think its like 118 octane so you need to figure out what octane you want to end up with. 1 gallon @118 mixed with 5 gallons of 93 pump would give you 97 octane.

Your mix of gas question is not important IMHO because with stock injectors... starvation will kill your motor even if knock doesnt.

Yeah, what really surprises me is the fact that you asked this question after knowing damn well people were gonna bash your *** for doing that! DO NOT, and I mean DO NOT boost a stock tuned engine, PERIOD. The fuel/timing curves are COMPLETELY different between the two setups. If you want to blow the top of a piston off, go right ahead, join the crowd. Leave the xylene alone until you get a tune, bottom line.

Ha good luck with the death you just gave your motor. Just keep your foocking foot out of it til you get the tune and you don't need to worry about adding octane. It's not knock/detonation you need to worry about right now...its the LACK OF FUEL!

Ya i think he got that on the third post.

Its getting tuned on Friday. We only have 90 octane up here and race gas is 7.50 per gal. I just wanted to know a cheaper (race) fuel.

It might already be too late. Hopefully not but it only takes one good case of detonation (either lean or spark caused) to wipe a ringland...

He says it starts "falling off in the top of third."

I have a LITTLE feeling he's been flooring it and rowing through the gears and stopping after redlining third.

Another LS1 bites the dust.

Yeah, I can almost gaurantee you a ring land decided to crack. Only a matter of time before the piston comes apart and cracks the block.
