Default ET Radial mileage? Please let me know.

I am about to buy a set of 255/50/16 Mickey Thompson ET Radials for my formula. I see very little track time and do very few burnouts and they are small when I do. I want to be able to hook and go in town. What kind of highway mileage can I expect with these tires. 15,000 miles would be acceptable.

I've been told ET Radials have a life of like 3000 miles.
Nitto rates their NT555Rs with a max life of 15,000 miles.

I wouldn't expect to get 15k outa the street radial from M/T. I've been hearing a max in the 8k range and that's being nice to them.

Yeah, I would only expect to get about 5K out of them at the most. Although, when they glaze over they get pretty stiff. So if you don't do alot of burnouts with them or put alot of heat in them everyday you can probrably push 8K out of them. Also, I would put them on this car if it ever sees rain.

Ouch! I dont think I can make these my everyday tires. I only have one set of wheels (on the car) and drive 500+ miles per week. Thanks for the info guys, I assumed they might have just a little more wear than the nitto's but not a third of the life.

no if you drive 500 miles a week get the nittos...they give you more grip on the street for a high hp car and dont weardown that fast.

if you have a car you drive for run and race on the weekends...get the mts

thats what i do

my 315/60/15 ET radials were put on the car this spring, and the tires got driven on a couple times in the week and seen 3-5 hard good burnouts and track runs each friday and saturday night, plus playing on the street and their just getting worn down now, and ill be ordering another set here soon. but in my opinion they last a while and work pretty good on a high ten second car.

They work well but i wouldn't get the mt's for a 500 mile a week daily driver. Nittos would be the way to go if you must have a drag radial for the street.

Thanks guys, I think I will just go with the nitto's. I didnt have any idea what mileage to expect from the ET radials. I knew I had better ask when I felt how soft the compound was. If anyone will get high mileage, it will be me because I do few burnouts and drive on smooth pavement from home to school.

it really depends on your setup, I drove my car with a big cam on a factory stall and 2.73 gear and they were fine, put about 2 k miles on them and had little wear. put a 3800 stall in the car and launched it a couple times and the tires looked shedded, went through about 1/8 of tread in about 600 miles. I don't even want to talk about them with thwe stall and gears. however, they hook like a ****

Well yak, Im on a stock converter right now so maybe it wont be too bad although I do have a 3600 Midwest waiting to go in sometime next week. Well, all the questions are over, I bit the bullet today and bought a pair. Now I assume I will have all kinds of posts saying they prolly wont make it home from the tire store without showing to be nearly worn out. thanks for the help.
