LS1 to LS6 PCV conversion w/ LS1 steam tube.....GURU's please come inside!!
I was reading up on the LS1 to LS6 PCV conversions, and in my reading/searching I found that some instructions have a note stating you NEED to use the LS6 steam tubes (aka coolant lines) in order for the LS6 valley cover to fit.
I wanted to swap my LS6 steam tube out to the LS1 "X" style lines to improve the cooling in cylinder #7 and posibly #8, and upgrade the to the LS6 PCV system while incorperating a catch can.
Does anyone know why when doing the LS1 to LS6 PCV conversion, why the LS6 valley cover will not allow the LS1 steam tube to fit? Or has anyone done the LS1 steam tube inbetween the LS6 valley cover and LS6 intake manifold?
Apparently all you have to do to make the LS1 "X" style steam tube to fit under the LS6 intake manifold is to grind down some of the stiffening ribs on the bottom side of the intake. I'm assuming that the newer LS6 valley cover also impedes the lines some how. But I don't know......

So you have two of the front coolant pipes - (part #12568478)?
Don't you think the fluid flowing from the front to the back of the block with the LS1 "X" style collant pipe would be better?

It'll be interesting to see how your project comes along. When are you attempting to put these parts together?

Can you post up a picture or something? That sounds like a good idea.

I'm just worried about the LS6 valley cover.

Did you just run your own tubing?
Post up some pics when you get the time. I'd really like to see this.

are you refering to the bottom of the intake or to the aluminum valley cover? i looked on how to and i only saw pics of an LS1 with its intake off. i know that LS6 intake bottoms are deeper and flatter than LS1s

I test fitted the coolant tubes on, and the LS7 intake does not clear the tubes. It needs to drop down about 3/8" to seat right on the heads. The ribs on the bottom of the intake are not tall enough to grind, or else I will grind into the intake. I just ordered two front LS6 PVC tubes(12568478)and will do the T-fitting thing.

Here are pictures of the LS1 and LS6 valley covers. The LS6 has the the PCV valve end on it and the LS1 doesn't. Do you notice the little raised circles on the LS6 as oposed to the LS1 valley cover.
