Default My Stroker Idea

I plan on doing a 3rd gen swap and am starting the buying process. I was thining of this for a daily drivability motor setup. Do you guys think it would work for daily drivability? how much power do you think it would produce? good combos? or should i just go with an iron 6.0L block and build that up to a 408 with similar cam and head setup?

It would be a good daily driver with that baby cam. How much power with a 216/222 I have no idea. Never seen a cam that small in a 383.

lunati kit is something like 4k. insane.

LS1s are overpriced IMO. get a motor out of a truck. but keep in mind that you would then have to put the oil pan, water pump, intake off an LS1 on it and probably also LS1 accessories. you can get a low milage LQ4 (6.0) for $1300, and a 4L60E for $600-$800.

that cam seems very small for a lsx based motor.

first note that daily driver means different things to different people...I drive a LT/true duals car around that lots of people would consider way too loud for the street, people drive around TRex/5000+ stall/4:10 gear cars which people would consider undriveable, and they love it.

you can pick up a forged 402 short block (with a warranty) from many of our sponsors for around $4-$5k, get a good head/cam/intake setup for around another $5k, and make 500-550rwhp easy. Or, keep your stock displacement, put a budget heads/cam/intake on it, and make around 420-440rwhp for around $4k (including bolt-ons). On the extreme end, you can pick up an LS7 crate motor for $14k, have some of our vendors work it over for around another $8k, and end up with 630+rwhp and a wallet that hates you. What is your budget, and how far do you want to go?

I want a flatter tq curve with about 400+hp and 400+tq to the wheels. what would a good cam be for that?

you could always get a 6.0 block that comes with a four inch bore and go with the new LS7 heads, intake and a cam of your choice..probably great for boost..depends on your comp ratio tho..

If you're only looking for about 400rwhp, do what Cop Car said and get an LQ4/LQ9 truck motor (6.0) and add a 224/224 cam, mill the heads about .030", and an LS6 intake. That right there should get you what you need. If you want to do a stroker, look into Eagle rotating assemblies. VERY strong, much stronger that what most people even need. A 408 would be sweet, but you'd be closer to 500rwhp within your price range.

SLP is traditionally quite a bit more expensive then what you could put together other places. Check out Texas Speed, Thunder Racing, Rapid Motorsports, and any of our other sponsors...
