Just got a set of those on my Z06 rims and they seem to be pretty nice, car seems to handle a lot better, but it had stock chrome snowflakes and cooper zeon tires on the front and Futura's out back so...... But they are quiet on the road, do pretty well in the rain, look good and for the price im not at all disappointed.

I just got rid of a set, by far the worst tire ive ever had. Just take the bite on some bfgs, youll be much happier. My bfgs handle and hook 10 times better than the sumitomos. Remember ya get what ya pay for.

I side with the guys who posted "good for the money". That's as far as I would go. Not a great tire, but if you just need them for regular DD duties, they were fine in my experience. I have them on my '99 (the Smurf) and used the car as a DD for almost 3 years on those tires until I got my truck a few months ago. I bought the car used and the seller had very recently installed them.

Theyre a good tire for the money on a daily driver without pushing much past stock power levels. They dont grab very well and theres not as much rubber on the road as other 315s. The water channels are very wide which is great in teh rain, but not so much on dry road or track. I was running them on my car, but I had 200+ pounds of stereo over the back tires to keep them planted.

Here is what I have posted in the past about these tires.
HTRZ 2's are not made in 315-35-17. Only base HTRZ's are.. Look on tire rack at the two and you will see the difference.

That said, I have the HTRZ 2's in a 275-40-17, and like them. They are pretty good in the dry, and okay in the wet. I have hydroplaned a couple of times (lots of water, 65mph speeds) in the same place. Other that these two instances, they are decent wet tires.
The only complaint I have about these tires are that they "thump" when they are cold, just like bias ply tires do.
I have 275-40-17 Sumitomo HTR Z 2's (not the base HTR Z's), and I am quite happy with them. Really good dry traction, and work well in the corners. I just have to keep track of the tire pressures, as they seem to lose air faster than other tires I have had. I have had other brand name tires (BFG and Goodyear) on my car, and I think the Sumi's are just as good if not better.
I think most of the bashing is on the base HTR Z's (especially the 315's).
If you read the reviews on tirerack, you will see most are happy with HTR Z 2's, and do not think highly of the base HTR Z's.
Just my .02$

I had these on my ss when I bought it. The car grabbed every nook and crannie in the road to the extent that I thought something was wrong with it. They dont hook for **** either. For cheap decent tires I went with the bridgestone fuzions. Much better than the sumitomos...junk and still a decent price.

104 bucks each installed. I got no complaints. I have them on the rear. I dont think twice about an NHRA burn out just to smell rubber and see the smoke. They don't slip in the rain. And back to the major point 104 installed.
