I am a novice drag racer who made a mistake I had been warned about. I forgot to shift into first following my burnout. I dumped the clutch at over 5k, my ET Streets dead hooked and I bogged to 700 rpm. When I realized what I had done, I drove slowly through my run and headed back to the pits. I was certain that I had damaged my relatively new Ram HD. I was surprised to find a smiley face on my timeslip – my opponent had run a 13.3 against a 13.8 dial-in even though he beat me by almost seven seconds. So I was given an immediate chance to test my clutch. I won the next round running a 12.709 against a 12.70 dial-in – a new low ET for me. Pleased that my clutch had survived, I lowered my dial-in to 12.65 and proceeded to a hot-lap breakout with a 12.493 – another new best. I love this clutch.
