could be lifters, could be noisy injectors, could be an exhaust leak
how many miles did your motor have on it when you replaced the cam? IMO if its under 70k your lifters should be fine

Shoot I am getting caught in a rut, this is like the third time I have suggested an exhaust leak, but it definately sounds like your problem. Most plug wire ticking will show at lower RPM and get masked at higher RPM by the engine and any possible remaining connection from the wire to the plug (jumping the gap).
IMHO you have an exhaust leak.
Before I make my final decision though, is your oil pressure good (low pressure could be a lifter), and have you listened with the hood up (an injector ticking will be more apparent), and do you have hardened pushrods (stock pushrods like to bend, but I am sure you did that with your cam swap)?
