Default Flame kit for exhaust?!?

After watching miami vice with that ferrari with the flame kit that has like blue flame kit, I have been experimenting with that idea...call me crazy... but that flame only comes out like 2-3 inches, not 10 feet like the other kits you can buy on ebay or homemade kits... anyone have any suggestions?? please help

was that first line spanish? never heard of !cat mod and !mufflers ? and if a 430 did that whenever you romp on it, it would have to have a kit whether if it came from the factory or aftermarket b/c if it did that naturally wouldn't it be runninng way way way too rich?

!cat and !mufflers simply mean delete cats and mufflers. !X = delete X
I've seen a vid of an LT1 bird (no kit to the best of my knowledge) shooting the same type of flame in the Miami Vice movie. I think all that he had done was what SS4Luck mentioned.

the only way to shoot flames like that is 1. some sort of ignition source, and 2. some sort of fuel source. If someones car is doing that naturally, its running WAY too rich and is going to hurt itself. Old time rodders would put a spark plug in the tail pipe, then choke the car out to make it run rich as hell when they wanted the flames. Since you can't choke out a FI car really, most modern kits have some sort of alternate fuel source like propane.

I have run my old LT1 with shorty headers and a O/R Y-pipe only, and sorry no flames shooting out. It was insanely loud though...

Yeah I have a true dual setup with pacesetter mufflers and no cats and at night all my friends drive behind me so they can see the huge flame that shots out. If I look out the back at the right time I can see the ground light up. Its kinda cool.

You must be running really rich or something then

Hell I'd like to see flames coming out of mine but I don't see how you would do it if your engine was running just right, maybe I just don't know anything , unless my twisties are somehow causing it to not but I don't see how, twisties aren't very restrictive.

Hooker LTs to a Y-pipe with the cutout open I've been told I occasionally have a huge flame shoot out when shifting or letting off the gas at high rmp. I know i'm running rich for some reason, but the LT1 in my car is getting taken out soon so whatever

Oh and one of the first episodes of Monster Garage they put exhaust pipes up through the lawn mower fox body mustang's body and out the windows. jesse james used propane and some sort of ignition kit to get huge flames to shoot out. i wouldn't know where to get it tho! there is a guy on ls1tech by the name of 98snake eater (his sn is condensed i forgot how he spells it) who has a flame shooting kit on his ls1.

Yeah, I think if you guys are shooting flames out the back with no ignition source then you're definitely running too rich and need a tune.

Maybe it's something you LT1 guys have up your sleeves then, cause it ain't working here. Too bad, I'd love to see flames shoot out from under my car with them dumped before the axles, it would be neat

I have no cats and only half the exhaust goes through the muffler and I raced a guy once and he said that I shot flames out while shifting hard but I want a blue small flame like miami vice.... not a 10 foot flame thrower

Maybe sell your car and go to the army surplus store to get a flamethrower? Why would you WANT your car to shoot flames? Just my opinion, but use your time and money on something more worthwhile.
