Heads for the MS4
Im wanting to do some head work that would work with the MS4. I know the cam was designed for a cam only car. Does anyone have any advice on what heads i should use, cleareance issues. I have a set of 5.3 that i could have cnc'd and i still have my stock 5.7 heads aswell. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I'm in the same boat, I have the MS4 in my '00 T/A and I'm thinking heads would be a good idea. The only heads that I have heard will clear are Texas Speeds Stg1 LS6 heads. So I would imagine any non-milled LS6 head will work but they would be the people to ask.

Better compression and port velocity from the 5.3s'. See this

Milling is when they shave the heads down, which in turn brings the valves closer to the pistons.

Everyone says to flycut, but nobody seems to be able to say how, where to get the tool, how much it costs, or how far to flycut them. Everyone on my home board says the stock pistons are too weak to flycut, but everyone on here says do it.
I'll follow this thread to see if the "just flycut" guys have any helpful advice.

need flycut tools
1 dummy head with seats removed
drill
duct tape
Bring piston at TDC, tape with 1 layer of duct tape, bolt on dummy head with flycut valve tool, set shim depth, drill.
Repeat for exhaust and other 8 cylinders and voila.
Of course some deburring afterwards but it is pretty simple. (time consuming though)
The setup will automaticaly stop at shim depth

I was informed that i cant use 5.3 heads because teh valves are to small..that leaves me with my stock heads...what would yall recommend me doing with my stock heads then?

Your setup needs some effort if u wana get things done correctly, especially that there isn`t anyone yet ( as I know) with a H/C ms4 combo. If I am where u I would talk to Brian at T.E.A or talk to the guys at TSP, they should have a clear answer for u.

im going to be using my stock heads with that cam... i am just gettin them ported. if i were you i would just port them and go with a FAST 90/90 set up.... that with the ms4's make some mean power

I thought you were talking about PORTED 5.3's
Stock 5.3s flow less than stock LS1, but when ported, watch out.
You could get your heads CNC'd with 2.00/1.55 valves for around $800
Prostock has the most viable solution. PRC stage 1 (243 casting) LS2 CNC'd heads unmilled.
