Hello guys, do you think it is worth it to swap a 2000 Camaro SS for a 2002 SS?? I couold get a 2002 for about the same price as my 2000 SS. What dio you guys think.

I think there would be some marginal advantages in going to an '02. Nothing real big, but the real questions are - what kind of mileage is on both cars, has it been beat on, how is the paint, etc, etc.

Just because it is newer doesnt always mean its nicer or "better".

Apples to apples, ALL variables being equal, I would go with the newer car. But that is just me!

How much more is the '02? I wouldn't want to lose more than $1000 for a '00 to '02 swap, and obviously an '02 SS is worth a handful more, all conditions being equal except mileage, than an '00. Hence why I wouldn't care to do it for more than a grand at the most. :)

Hey guys, my 2000 is pretty clean. Just needs paint on the Lh fender(hit a bump and cracked bottom) and a polish. Driver seat showing wear on leather and the bottom of seat is starting to sag a bit . Difference would cost roughly $1500 for a 2002. mileage less by 10,000miles.

hmm... i'd probably say keep the 00, and put the 1500 to recover the driver seat, fix the fender, and polish it. figure, by the time you spend the extra 1500, you still have to pay to register it, and probably some kind of taxes on it.

i agree with what was said above use the 1500 to mod your current car or just fix all that is wrong with it....

you know what shape your cars in, i bought a 99 w/ 50000 miles on it and the motor had to be rebuilt and the cluch had 15% left on it. People like to mess around in these cars

why dont you make a call to your insurance company and find out how much it will really cost to swap?

I'd get the '02 only if it had very low miles and extended warranty.

I'd keep the '00 if I had already dumped a lot of money into it (more than 4-5K).

Ok whats the difference between 00 and 02?..... Cam and Intake

-98,99 and 00 have a slightly larger cam than 01 and 02 but uses the older LS1 intake.

-01 and 02 have the LS6 intake but use a slightly smaller cam.

Thing is,.... performance wise,... 01-02 have an advertised 5 HP advantage over the 98,99 and 00. Witch is actually 4.25 RWH. Wow,..lol. Just keep the 00 and add the LS6 intake if you want some performance and you'll be better off than the 01 and 02 because you have the slightly larger cam. And that mod will only run you about 500 bucks instead of the 1000-1500 you'd be spending to swap for the 02.

Not disrespecting the 01 and 02s but for this suituation,..your better off with holding onto your 00.

If you want it just for the sake of having the last year of 4th gen camaros then go for it. Since the camaro is coming back, the 02 model wont have the historic value everyone thought it would. its really a toss up

get the 02 if theyre in similar shape.. already comes with ls6 intake, better hydraulics if its a manual, more trustworthy oil pumps, and it is considered more valueable b/c its newer and the last year they made them.

Hello guys, this is my first Camaro SS and the car is great!!! That's why i was thinking of the 02. Also for the reason that 1Loudta was saying about the clutch issue 2000's have and the cold start knock. Other than that I love it. The other day I raced a Ferrari F350 and the guy couldn't pass me, where the hell do you get power like an SS in a car that doesn't cost a hundred grand?????

so, the ? is, what are you going to do? cause there's a lot of people that are parting out 02's, you could probably pick up their master cylander, which is where i think the problems with the earlier models come from, and be done with it. i just don't see the point of spending an extra 1500 bucks to have something you basically already have.

cars ingeneral, don't keep value too well. it's not really like an investment so to speak. if you buy the 02, unless you keep it stock and parked, it's gonna be worth just a little bit more than your 00 years down the line. i still say keep the 00. or you could just fool yourself, and buy the 35th aniv badges.

couldnt have said it better myself. just keep what you got and mod it. its not worth the extra money just for a few things.

Hello guys, I tried my friends Corvette Z06 and the car rocks!!!!!! It is so cool and it flys. Now I don't know if I want the 2002 SS anymore. Is there a big difference with a regular Corvette?

The 02's have the LS6 intake, which the 2000 did not. That being said the 02 is a little quicker out of the box, and also is the anaversary addition.

Depends on how attatched to your car you are. I would rather have the 02, than an 00

Now you wanna Vette. Ugh,.....Kid, I can't believe that this conversation is still go'n. Stick with the 00,........ your better off.

Basically the same damn statement I made before about your 00 SS vs. the 02 SS! Invest in the SS u got. Mod it up and kick the crap out of your friend's ZO6! Trust me,..that feeling is priceless!!
