Default tires

will tire size have a noticable effect on gas mileage if you go from a wider tire to a thinner tire.

Naw, not really. I have gone from having 235/55/16 tires that came stock on the car, to 275/40/17 front 315/35/17 in the back and didn't notice any difference at all. The most notable difference you will feel is that bigger tires in the front will make the car follow grooves in the street more, making the wander around a little more. But it's all worth it, coz bigger tires just look so much better.

Heavier as well as wider will make a small difference but hardly noticeable, maybe 1mpg less aound town.

I didn't lose any gas mileage, even after putting a cam in and all supporting mods.
