Chevrolet Camaro 1967-2002 - How well does a SS hold up in racing?

Hey, I race my car maybe twice a week, if that. How well can it hold up to running it hard like that? I assume fine but I can only do basic maintenance and if I fucked something up running it hard it would cost me a ton. Also is there anything I need to check often? Oh and my car is modded, headers, cam etc..

Your rearend is about the weakest link in a modded car. It's all going to come down to how much power you're putting down and the kind of tires that you're using at the track.

If your worried about it, go buy a set of SFC's and the like. It should at least help the car keep its frame straight. :)

Yeah I would say definately get sub-frame connectors. Every f-body needs to have those. Since you have the 12 bolt you don't really have to worry about your rear end breaking.

About how much are they?

I don't remember exactly...I think I paid like $250 for the SFC's and getting them installed.

I cracked the paint in my pass. door jamb, and vowed not to race until I got SFCs installed. I did it and have had no problems since. That should be the first thing done the car before any mods. Got mine from the WS6 Store, great people and great prices. Almost everyone sells SFCs, so do some looking around for the best connecters you want and are willing to spend for them.
I don't think you will be able to hurt the SS hood if you triied.

Not sure if I should go with 3 point SFC or 2 point. 2 Point is alot cheaper and no clearance issues.

I would go for the 2 point. I doubt you will have any problems.

I definitely suggest STB and SFC! A friend of mine cracked the windshield in his SS when he took it to the track launching at about 5500 RPM'S  I had Kenny Brown STB on my SS but I believe they are no longer in business and I am sure there are better ones out there. I hear the SLP ones are good! :)
Can anyone suggest good cheap strut bars?

get the 3 point umis...i have them on my car and there is absolutely no clearance issues they tuck up really nicely...i had the 3 point slp one before they probly hung down a good 2 inches more or so..you cant even see the umi unless you get under it or are far away and can get the right angle
