maximum 6.0L stroker
I just want to know what's the biggest (mostly reliable) stroker that can be made from a 6.0L iron block and what bore and stroke is necessary to make it. I heard something about a 414, 423.... etc. What's the most you can reliably bore out one of these blocks? thanks

ok well, screw reliability...
what are some combinations bigger than a 408 that are commonly made? I heard something about someone making a 454... but that might have been an aftermarket block...

Out of an iron 6L block you can get a 418 which I have 4.100 stroke 4.030 bore or you can go to 4.100 stroke and 4.040 bore which is a 422 I believe. I have heard of people getting .060 overbore but I wouldnt push it that far. The 4.125 stroke crank that I believe Lunati makes would be nice but it would cause many clearance problems. With the longer stroke crank the piston goes too far down and you get BAD piston rock at BDC. With my 4.100 I am having problems with piston skirt wear. Bould a 408 its reliable and there is a reason why there are hunderds of them out there.
Any 427 made with a 4" stroke which the MTI motor is has a 4.125 bore which is not possible without sleeving an iron block.

I was mainly asking about the iron 6.0 block not the aluminum ls2...
I wasn't aware that the iron blocks had sleeves? details please?
Any 427 made with a 4" stroke which the MTI motor is has a 4.125 bore which is not possible without sleeving an iron block.

no the website only had 2 iron block motors listed, the 408 and a 422. the rest were resleeved aluminum blocks... which isn't what I was asking about.
sled28: have you had any problems simliar to the wear experienced by 1slow01Z71? or any other issues with the 4.125 stroke? also, have you bored the iron block out more than 4.030? can they go larger than that? I know a previous poster said .060 over was a little much.

I have gone .030,.040, & .060 over in iron blocks. I would recommend .030 or .040 for power adder motors, and 4.060 for N/A combo's.
