Default Dart 205 vs PRC LS6 vs Patriot LS6 Style

Which head do you think is a better performer? As in I'll take a better curve if it means giving up 5hp in the very top where I'll rarely be. They're all close to the same price after the typical upgrades.

You might also throw in the all new PRC Street 5.3l Cylinder Heads. They feature big 2.02/2.04 intakes, 1.57 or 1.60 exhaust valves & PRC Double Spring kit for only $1199!! This combo uses a pretty small 220cc runner & flows very compareable to the LS6 head we offer with a much smaller runner! Flow vs. flow out of the box it flows atleast 10cfm over the dart at every lift point!

220cc runner
63cc chamber
big valves
Double Spring Kit
Decked to your specs
$1199 COMPLETE!!

Keep your eyes open for flow info & flow videos! I had a independent bench flow one fo these 5.3l heads at over 315cfm @ .600" right after a well known cnc ported 205cc head couldn't break the 300cfm mark!!

That's great, Jason. Now the important thing: what about PTV clearance? If it's not at least as good as a stock LS6 243 casting, they're not worth much in today's world of big cams. But I'm interested, for sure.

On another note, I'm amazed that that many people have comparison info between the PRCs and the Darts, but failed to comment after voting. If they have enough info to vote, how can they not post about it?

The point is that after the typical valve job work and spring work, the PRCs aren't much cheaper than the Darts. Not enough to matter. So what is there to convince me that a few extra CFM on the PRCs is worth the sacrifice of using their bigger runner? The Dart has the smaller runner and the aftermarket strength and the aftermarket shaping on the combustion chamber. I'm not set on them. But I want to know why I should choose one over another. I think the curve would be prettier from the Darts.

I'll be giving you a call sometime next week about these heads.

Nobody wants to cut a deal on the TFS heads. You'd think with so few people having them, they would want to get them out more. But somehow they believe the sheeple will just believe whatever they say without a non-supported car putting up numbers.

I kinda favor the PP LS6 style heads. Its basicly an LS6 head with a bigger chamber, but PP welds it up and machines a new chamber so you can get them all the way down to a 59cc chamber without decking the head so you keep stock p2v clearance.

Don't have a motor to put them on right now.... I've got three sets of heads and two short blocks. ...lol....

But of the budget heads out there I think the PRC's are the best bang for the buck right now. Especially when you factor in valve clearance and consistancy.

I had a set of PRC Dart Stage 2 heads that I sent back to Dart due to oil control issues. In return, the replaced my heads with some that they did a clean-up job on. They sent me full flow sheets from both sets of heads.

PRC ported Stage 2 Darts

Intake...........Corr CFM.......%Exh/Int
.200............146.7
.300............210.6
.400............267.3
.500............302.1
.600............310.3
.700............308.1
Exhaust
.200............103.3............70.4
.300............143.7............68.2
.400............182.2............68.2
.500............207.1............68.5
.600............223.0............71.9
.700............232.3............75.4

Darts with cleanup work performed at Dart (not sure if 205 or 225 ports)

Intake...........Corr CFM.......%Exh/Int
.200............149.3
.300............205.1
.400............261.5
.500............293.2
.600............319.5
.700............334.0
Exhaust
.200............111.7............74.8
.300............153.3............74.7
.400............190.3............72.8
.500............218.0............74.3
.600............228.8............72.5
.700............235.7............70.6

All flow work was performed on a 4 inch bore with radiused inlets and no exhaust port adapter. I don't have flow numbers on what the box stock Darts flow, but I am sure someone on here has flowed a set. If not, call John over at Dart and I am sure he can get you some hard data.

Oh yea, while I have no hard data, I can tell you that the intake ports of the PRC ported Darts had much more material removed from the port than those cleaned up at Dart did. On the PRCs, the rocker bolt hang down into the port a good ways, while those cleaned up by Dart the rocker bolt just lays against the side wall barely exposed.

Hope this helps a little!

Galen

P.S. my vote...Dart
