You can make as much power as you want with a 38. Now, keeping the power down is another issue. Wastegate sizing is a bit of a black art. I can tell you that my 40 mm worked just fine at keeping my T-76/360,383,388 down to 12 psi. . . that is until I improved my cat-back. I switched from an Aerochamber to a Magnaflow and now I can't get the boost below 16 psi. Later on, we built a T76/377 with a JGS 44 mm and no exhaust at all and it would go all the way down to 6 psi. It depends on the turbo, cid, desired boost level, and exhaust backpressure.

More exhaust backpressure -> smaller wastegate
More boost -> smaller wastegate
Larger cid -> smaller wastegate
Larger turbo -> ???

wow... I was hoping to get boost down to about 5 psi when I want. Ill typically be running about 10 or so with stock CI and a T76.

I dont think you'll be able to boost down to 5lbs w/ a t76 with a wastegate that small.

I heard Jose from forced inductions got his t-88 down to 6psi and it held with a turbosmart 38mm WG and that it was a MUCH better unit than Tial

now thats what I want to hear! I was told a Racegate would work with a P*S kit and it doesnt. It has a bigger flange than the standard. Anyone need a barely used Racegate?

I would recommend at least a 40-44mm for a 76mm turbo. Tial is really good as well as Turbosmart...the latter being more expensive.

See the problem is, the kit is amde with 1.5" tubing for the wategate which equals 38mm. So, anything over 38mm is a waste and Im not redoing the whole wastegate piping. I also have to have the 2 bolt flanges.

Call Jose and get the new JS 40mm gate. It flows ALOT and will bolt right up in the current spot.

^ I agree, try the new JS waste gate in a 40mm. Big turbo and low boost, you need something that will keep that valve closed, you may need a bigger W/G. I'd say, try it at first and see if you can get down to 6 or 7 psi comfortably.

We typically have them or can get them. Just give Jose a call.

I think Jose is working with JG on the new 60mm BFG WG. They are testing them on diesels since they are really designed to work well with them.
