New spec 3plus reviews
I was wondering if anyone has the spec 3 plus and how its holding up.. and also here is my situation i would like to use the stock flywheel and get it resurfaced. I have 82k on my car its an 01. i want to know what i should upgrade for the hydrolics because i want to spray a 150 shot in a few months. thanks any suggestions for another good clutch would be great im not trying to replace my clutch in a few months either

any one have any advise for me? i want to upgade whiles im getting my new bell housing in. basically i know its very important to bleed the system well for sure and do the drill mod is an adjustable master nessary for spray?

I think your best bet is to go with either a GM LS6 or LS7 clutch. They are both excellent clutches, retain the stock pedal feel and durability, and hold much more power over the LS1 clutch. If you want to go all out get the LS7 clutch, it should be good to at least 600HP
Plenty of guys on here use them and have had good luck with them, I've heard a lot of horror stories regarding aftermarket LS1 clutches(burning up in 10K miles, chattering, slipping, ect).

I have a spec 3+ and it has about 8000 or 9000 miles on it and it has never chattered since day one. I have ran my times in sig with it. I was launching at 5500 on the dope and didn't slip a bit.

don't worry about the hydrolics unless you are having problems. you have the upgraded slave right now. the ls6 clutch is junk and you will kill it if spraying. The ls7 clutch is ok for a bit but if you plan on taking it to the track often and hotlaping it it may go. It all comes down to how you break it in, and if it was installed properly. I love mine and would buy another one. As for pedal feel- we have a hydrolic clutch not a cable, so you can make about any clutch feel close to stock.

cool so yea im not having problems with the hydrolics right now. i was just wondering if i should change out the slave whiles im down thier you know. i just want a clutch that will hold up to the spray mostly second gear roll's. and should can i use my factory flywheel and get it resurfaced or should i get the billet steel spec flywheel.

I've been running a Spec 3i for about a year now with no problems. I resurfaced my flywheel. I would check the condition of your factory flywheel and if it's not worn much, go ahead and get it resurfaced (Spec provides the material removal limits). If you don't have a lot of miles on the slave, re-use it. Don't mess with the master unless you are having problems--the stock unit works fine. Make sure you use the shim Spec provides for the slave.

for everyone that has made the last 4 post's i was wondering what flywheel you are using. and yea i have been hearing great things about the new spec from everyone but the older 3's have had mix'd reviews but this one seems good. yea i definitly cant wait to spray and i know my stock clutch will be dead in a heart beat. yea that autozone flywheel sounds like a good deal. so they use a new flywheel that hasnt been resurfaced yet so it has a few resufaces left in it? but yea i am thinking about the spec flywheel because its lighter than stock. so my hydrolics will hold the nitrous.

well i used a billet steel flywheel and used the provided shim, and had problems of the clutch slipping in 5th and 6th because it wasn't fully engaging. SPEC told me not to take out the shim and said it was installer error, we took the shim out and it worked just great. It seems like people that use the stock flywheel need the shim, and people that use a aftermarket flywheel don't need the shim.

We usualy use the spec billet flywheel unless the customer doesnt want us to. The Spec billet flywheel is great for the price, we havent had problems with any spec's burning up or not holding for the application.

I was the first person Bob at EPP sold the SPEC 3+ to and absoutly love it. I will be going with some heads here very soon so we will see how she holds up to that. I have been dumping it at 5500-6000 and she is holding strong.

yea so im going to order my spec 3 plus this afternoon thanks. and so this kit will come with a shim and i need to use it from what i understand? i dont understand the concept of the shim can someone eplain and how do i tell if my stock flywheel is worn to much its all out of the car so i have access to look at it.

i have to retract my statement after 16000 miles the spec is finally shot but its was a good clutch it not slippin its just starting to chatter real bad and makes a load sqeak when ingaged

damn that sucks so yours died with out any spray on it? hope fully mine will hold up. and also im choosing to go with the stock flywheel resurfaced. any advise on the install like the use of shims or how to tell if the stock flywheel is usable so on would be great.
