Default What heads would you buy?

If you were staying NA, running 2x/yr at the track, and theoretically street racing on occasion, what heads would you buy? Let's go one more...

1 - what heads would you buy?
(I'm assuming this includes AFR, TFS, ETP, etc.)

2 - what heads would you buy under $2k?

3 - what heads would you buy under $1500?
(yes, Darts are under $1500 if you look in the right place)

I hear that the Patriots are good, but I've never heard of any good track times.

Well, don't leave us hanging. Tell us why you think they're better than the others! I'm kinda scared of the big runners, myself.

I'm partial to torque, and a well balanced power delivery, so I recommend the TEA Trickflows. See sig below for results.

I wouldnt mind having a pair of the 243's from patriot, i havnt seen to many track times but most of the people I have heard form that bought these liked them and they have great customer service.

And about the darts, dont they have some problems leaking/smoking?

His post states $1500.00 or less. For the record, we made 495 rwtq N/A on a 402 with them $1200 dollar heads.

Only the ones that were CNC'd by a certain company that now everyone says to buy from.

We're talking about a 346 here. 402 numbers don't mean much in this conversation, but if that's good numbers, I have a theory as to why. The large runner isn't too big for the increased displacement. Sound reasonable?

definately go with some stock style heads, if you have to pop your hood for a theoretical streetrace having, heads screaming with AFR or Trick Flow are going to hurt you more than help you. You can spend less on heads that will probably get you to within 20hp and you can claim are stock and make up the HP EASILY by giving less/getting more.. you can always spend what you saved on a sneaky pete nitrous kit as well, and can hide it if your good enough.

that's all if you care what other people see of course.

AFR 205s..no need to guess if they will perform well. I got what I paid for and then some.

when people accuse me of spraying them on a street race, it puts a smile on my face because I know AFR delivered.

My tuner sees too many AFR cars that just aren't impressive. But then, he says just buy the Stage I Livernois heads. Heck, the guy I got my current heads from is disappointed in his AFR setup. If I spent the money for AFRs, I'd go TrickFlow.

What's the pricing on the mti's? I can't seem to gather much info from their site.

I would go with Darts regardless. That is what I did already the only thing I wish I did was get 225s over the 205s. I have not seen any other numbers from H/C cars to make me choose another head yet.
