Stock Flexplate so, i was debating whether i should use my stock flexplate, or if i should buy something like a TCI
itll have about a 4000-4400 stall in a G5x3 cam only car.
any stock flexplates break?

98s are said to have the strongest flexplates (evidently the ONLY good thing coming from a 98..), that might be something to consider. king james broke his stock '00 flexplate with the stock stall and bolt-ons, no adder.

GM has replaced the OE 1999-2002 flexplate. My 2001 flexplate is still good and has never been replaced, yet I have installed different converters throughout the years (many re-torqueing of the flexplate) as well. The 1998 flexplate is no longer available from GM, so you would have to find a used one from somewhere. On my wife race car, we still have the OE 1998 flexplate and it also has had no issues. We have an 8" 4400 stall in it. 
Other flexplate companies are ATI, Mezeire, Hughes (IIRC) ... just do a google search for LS1 flexplates and you will find them.

so basicly it really sounds like a crap shoot..
unless i can get a used flexplate and stall for a good deal *wink wink* im going to use a stock flexplate and take a gamble.. ill just have to keep an ear out for odd sounds *rolls dice*

Keep a sharp ear out for noises on startup. Mine started making a "Clank Clank" sound while cranking just before it started. I looked all over for what the problem was to no avail. Then when I had my slipping trans taken care of at Speed Inc they found the flexplate was cracked.
