has anyone had exp. with edelbrock sbc rpm heads? How much power can these heads really make? Will these support 500hp on a pump gas 355? Would I be better saving $$$ for better heads? Your input will be
appreciated

It all really depends on the rest of the combination, but 500hp on p/gas with these heads on a 355 is a pretty tall order.

If you have them now, I would say yes...to a point. I would look at it more in terms of how much you are willing to spend on getting them ported compaired to simply selling them and buying a better head. Most time the amount of money spent on porting is not linear to amount of airflow gained. Meaning the first $200 spent will show more gain that the next $200. Most times when someone asks me how much it costs to port a set of heads, its easier to find out how much they want to spend and tell them what kind of gains they will see for that amount of money. From what I have seen of these heads and other heads I have seem and worked on, I wouldn't spend more than about $300-400 on getting them ported before I would simply go to a better head. I'm thinking of this in terms of what you could sell them for used, and put that with another $400 to buy a better head.
What is the rest of your engine combo like, or are have you picked a cam, intake, pistons, etc... yet?

save some more money for afr 195's street heads. i think they flow 268 @ .500.
go to airflowresearch.com. i think the 195 street heads are 1200. they just came out with 195 eliminators for 1500. the eliminators have a 30 more hp at the peaks compared to the street heads. even if you get the street heads they're far more superior then rpms for not that much more money.i think the rpms are 1000 in summit.

355 10.1 comp hyper-pistons lunati hyd 235@.50 507'' int-exh.
air gap intake holley 3310 750cfm. 1.5 roller rockers. I have about
500 miles on it and was impressed at first since it's was my first build.
Now what kind of gains will I see with a 200$ port job? I wont spend more than 400$ on porting. These heads were my b-day gift so I got them free. Sorry for all thew questions but I'm a newbie to high performance so I need all the help I can get. My cousin just got a t-type pushing 500hp but can't tell a crank from a
cam, but has money to do so. I on the other hand, like to learn things rather
than just pay someone to install a battery(no joke) like he has.

If done right, you might see as much as 30-35 hp which isnt gonna scare you the first time you hit it, but it would be enough that you will say it definitely runs better. This combo as a whole will probaly still only produce about 450-460hp and that would be at the crank. 1.6 rockers would help you out a little too, just make sure you've got enough spring to take the extra lift.
